It comes quite naturally to us to accessorise our homes, with matching, contrasting or happily blending furnishings and décor. However, we do not always realise the value of accessorising in the garden. Using natural materials for various disconnected items around the garden creates a feeling of harmony and intent. So, while we might agree that using matching or blending containers is a valuable design plan, it would not necessarily occur to us to also match or blend other objects placed around the garden. For example, a potting bench is a functional item, but why should it not also be a thing of beauty as well? Likewise a compost bin, which cannot always be tucked away out of sight. If it blends in with garden furniture, it looks as though it belongs, rather than being a necessary evil. The log store is another such item, which can look really good if well made from natural timber, and matching the rest of the garden furnishings.
