Watering Cans

Watering Cans

Watering cans have been in used from at least the 17th century and have seen lots of improvements in design. Apart from a aid to watering plants, a watering can has varied uses, as it is a fairly versatile tool. At the end of the spout, the “rose” can be placed to break up the stream of water into droplets, to avoid excessive water pressure on the soil or on delicate plants. Different designs of can may have different styles of “rose”, creating different spray patterns and forces. Just because the watering can is a functional tool does not preclude is being an attractive addition to your garden tool set. With the wide range of designs and colours you have a wonderful choice, the watering can blend in or stand out within your gardening décor. Styles range from the truly traditional through to more modern, sometimes with specific functions. Different styles or colours can be utilised to separate different uses within your garden; for example, one would be for water only, another colour or design could be for liquid lawn feed, yet another colour or shape could be for liquid weed control. By this means you will prevent the accidental application of unwanted liquids, especially if more than one person uses these implements.
