Plant Support Systems

Plant Support Systems

Have you ever gone to bed at night proud of your lovely herbaceous bed and then got up the next morning to find it has become ground cover, courtesy of overnight heavy rain and wind? I suspect we have all suffered this fate at on time or another, but it need never happen again…. Once upon a time, gardeners used pea sticks to give support to plants which did not have enough strength to support themselves. One problem with these straggly sticks was that they looked unsightly until the garden had grown up, possibly as late as late summer. Now, there are many very attractive alternatives to these pea sticks, and if you select carefully, these alternatives are far more suitable as they are targeting specific problems, such as a plant collapsing from the crown, as Sedum Spectabile tends to do. We offer a range of types of support, from single spikes, hoops, double layered hoops, semi-hoops which can be linked together, all of which are far more attractive than pea sticks. All our garden plant supports are finished with a durable coating, making them much longer lasting that the old fashioned pea sticks. Most can be placed either before the herbaceous plants start growing, or even after growth is well established. But pretty much whichever you choose, no more ground cover tall perennials.
